Jumping on the band wagon...

Hey all! I finally got on here and had some time to read some of the posts!!! This is WONDERFUL because a lot of times my parents forget to tell me something they know until like weeks later and I fully miss out on all the "action"...kind of a bummer... Everyone else is calm cool and collected about the subject when I finally hear about it! haha... any way... I just thought I would write a little bit about my life just as an FYI.

Right now I am on break (which is wonderful of course). I have been working at the day care I worked at over the summer. Its fun...but I am glad I dont have to work there forever. We had a good Christmas here in Rigby. It was just me, my parents, Shane and Lon. Steve didnt have much break for Christmas so the Whitings stayed in Milwaukee. We spent the day watching movies, sleeping, and eating. That is probably my favorite Christmas tradition at my house. School wise this is my last official semester in Rexburg. I have to take one more class this summer so that I can do my student teaching in September. I am working on my student teaching application right now. I dont know where I will be going yet but I will have my placement by the end of February at the latest. I put South Salt Lake as my top choice. My next choice was Las Vegas. I have limited choices. But I think that either of those will be great so I'm just kind of leaving it up to the Lord. As for the boy aspect of my life... I'm not dating any one. I have some really good guy friends that I hang out with more then my girl friends probably...but thats all... Its weird being 21 and unmarried in Rexburg... living in single housing when your 21 makes you the old maid... some days in Rexburg I feel old! It doesnt help that most people in my classes are married too.... to be honest i still feel too young to be married and it creeps me out that people younger then me ARE married!! haha! Thats about all for the update in my wonderful life!! I hope all of you are doing well!! Let me know whats new in your lives!! Miss and Love you!

Holiday tradition continues

Dad cooked us a great breakfast..tell us about your holiday!

Funny moment with Mom

Many times you need to say a silent thank you! Today my silent thank you goes to Gary (or Steve or Bob or some such name...I fail to remember!) He is the physical therapist who comes three times a week to help mom. He came on a day I was making dinner for mom and dad. He was running late due to a terrible snow storm, so I was there for her appointment. Gary (so called) is such a nice man, gentle and jolly and PERFECT!! He does a marvelous job with mom and then concludes his visit with some final questions. His first question is " How is your pain". Mom replies (so like her) "Oh not that bad...not as bad as Sister So and So who has (said pain) and she is really sturggling...her (trails off). Gary listens kindly and then asks again "How is YOUR Pain". Mom, thinking Gary didn't hear or was unclear on the particulars of Sister So and So, begins again the story of her poor ailing neighbor who has it worse than she does. Gary (bless his soul) says a third time..."How is YOUR PAIN!!" At which time he offers the pain scale of 1-5 and asks mom to rate her pain. She quietly offers a sad 4--showing she really is not feeling well and Gary is kind to her and trys to quietly comfort her. She really hates the attention for being sick...but loves and needs attention! I hope you can say a silent thank you (or prayer) for Gary. And keep praying for Mom/Grandma! I love you all!! Liz (we need a post from someone..anyone!)

More Pictures from Thanksgiving

I found some more pictures from Thanksgiving

Tis the Season!

Thanks for the post Beck!! My prayers are with you!! I just watched Holiday Inn with Zach--he does not get all the subtle beauty of the film....but I am glad some one does! I hope others will chime in! (grandsons included!!)about a favorite movie/holiday tradition or some such.

My hope/request for Christmas/New Year Holiday is that you can make time to visit Mom and Dad (even a quick drop by if that is all time permits). FYI, Dad/Grandpa will have to have his pacer maker battery replaced in Feb. I think it is a same- day surgery.

News From Becky

Hi All--It is a cold and blustery day in Rock Springs, I was hoping that I could hibernate this winter but I don't think it will happen.

Last week I had to have a few breast biopsies and I kinda had an adventure--they hit a blood vessel and so I have a vey purple breast ( the whole thing) with a bonus lump. The results are I have atypical ductal hyperplasia (probably misspelled that)--which means I have weird cells that could become cancerous and also they sometimes (25% of the time) have cancer cells hanging out in the same vicinity. So that means that I need to have a lumpyctomy. I don't know when it will be because the Surgeon is out of town until today. For insurance reasons I hope to get it done before we roll into 2009. I'm really not nervous about it because they said even if they find some cancer cells we have caught it very early--the spot is very small. I'm confident that I am seeing good doctors down at Saint Mark's and it's just going to be another lump in my chest. We Asplund girls seem to get those (has everybody had something biopsied?) but at least they are benign.

I hope everyone is getting in the Christmas spirit, I watched Charlie Brown's Christmas which is one of my favorites. Now I just need to get out my White Christmas, Holiday Inn, Scrooge and It's a Wonderful Life dvd's and I'll be in the Christmas mood.....because "which way to Con,,nec,,ti,,cut"

Love to all--Hope finals are going great for Kallee, Amber, Kelsey, Lon, Shane, Aaron, Justus and Loren. Drive Safe!

Good day !!

We all need good news days too! Dad had a great visit to the Dr. and they pulled out the stitch that was causing most of the pain! Mom will do 3 days of physical therapy...that seems to be helping

hey all:)

Hi guys
So Liz, I wanted to let you know that I think this is a great idea:) I feel like sometimes here in Logan I miss out on info and it'll be nice to have an easy update. Let Grandma know that I love her and think about her all the time. Also let her know that the Lord is thinking of her( we had a talk and she was discussed in my prayer). Let grandpa know I love him too.

Well, I'll share a quick update. as many probably know it's finals week coming up soon. Always a crzy hectic time:) I'm also preparing for juries( basically re-auditioning) to see if i can get into the program. I discovered i new obsticle. In third grade they discovered a hearing loss of high pitches in me. Well it turns out that this is creating pitch problems in my singing and hearing intervals. My voice teaching is willing to work with me to overcome it, but is discussing it with the head. She feel I'm a fighter and that's why she's willing to help. So please pray for me( thought the prayers for grandma are more important). Love you all.
Kallee

Mom/Grandma Update

Thanks to everyone for coming for Thanksgiving! Family is a good thing!
Mom has not been very good! Ironically she has gone downhill since thanksgiving. She has had two bad falls and one where Dad was right there and saved her. Some good news is we made arrangements for a Physical Therapist to come in and help with her legs. We also got a medical/hospital bed set up for her. She has spent the last three days in bed. Home health came and also made an assessment. Mom told the nurse she was fine--so the assessment was she did not need home health. I could not be there for the assessment and she is very touchy about this topic. We agreed for the time being that I will go and help her bathe and maybe do a bit of laundry two days a week (Dad is good to do dishes and laundry the rest of the week as of now). She is so sad and keeps saying over and over "this is ridiculous". PLEASE remember her in your prayers and PLEASE call her (a quick call is good medicine!!) I will also try to go and cook up a bunch of freezer meals and see if we can put weight back on Dad. We will get the stitches out of his eye on Friday--and I will update you then. If you have any time during the holidays to visit....they would love it (even 15 minutes)
